The seminar was co-sponsored by the Supreme People's Court Intellectual Property Judicial Protection Theory Research Base (Shenzhen University), the National Intellectual Property Training Base (Guangdong), and the Law School/Intellectual Property Academy of Shenzhen University. A total of more than 300 people attended the seminar, including experts and scholars from the Supreme People's Court, the State Intellectual Property Office, the National Copyright Administration, Renmin University of China, East China University of Political Science and Law, Macao University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and other well-known intellectual property trial experts from local courts, as well as practitioners from the corporate and legal professions. Experts and scholars attending the seminar conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on some of the forefront issues in China's intellectual property judicial protection, including "Problems and Improvements in Patent Protection of Graphical User Interface Design of Electronic Products", "Copyright Regulations for Real-time Broadcasting of Sports Event Program Network", "Trademark Protection in Cross-Border E-Commerce", and "Factors Influencing the Determination of Infringement in Network Unfair Competition Disputes”.

In his keynote speech, Mr. Andy Yang pointed out that “The GUI-related intellectual achievements can be protected by comprehensive methods such as copyright, anti-unfair competition and design patents. Among them, the method of anti-unfair competition can adopt the two principles of honesty and decoration. For the protection of the design of the GUI, it is necessary to properly adopt and explain the infringement system in the general principles of Civil Law, Tort Liability Law, and Patent Law, so as to promote the protection of intellectual achievements.”
